Project management
Q01What kinds of project management does Wirestate do?
Construction and technology scope management from preconstruction through closeout: scheduling and installation sequencing, manpower planning, subcontractor and vendor coordination, material procurement and delivery timing, RFI preparation, change order documentation, and progress reporting. We have run this on commercial, industrial, healthcare, higher education, tenant improvement and residential projects, and we run the small jobs with the same system as the big ones.
Q02What size projects has Wirestate's team worked on?
Our founder spent 15 plus years working in the field and in coordination roles for contractors on commercial projects, including an OSHPD hospital expansion in Upland, a one million square foot automated cold storage distribution center in Rialto, a multi building student housing development at Pitzer College, and a ground up Costco warehouse and fuel station in San Juan Capistrano. That is the scale we are built for, and residential work gets the same process when a homeowner wants it run properly.
Q03Does Wirestate handle commercial or residential projects?
Both, and commercial is the foundation. Our founder's background is commercial and industrial construction, from manufacturing facilities to hospital and tenant improvement work, and we take on residential smart home, network and security projects when a homeowner wants that level of management. The process is the same either way: scope defined up front, one written estimate, one accountable team running the job and the trades on it.
Q04What's the difference between hiring Wirestate and hiring a trade contractor directly?
Who the project manager works for. A trade contractor has project managers too, and theirs work for the contractor: their job is to protect the contractor's schedule, margin and change orders. Wirestate's project manager works for you, the owner. We define the scope, hold every trade to it, review every change order before you pay it, and keep the schedule, procurement and closeout on one accountable desk. On a commercial job that is the difference between an owner's representative and hoping the trades manage themselves. For a simple one trade job, hire the trade directly. For anything with more than one trade, a real schedule, or real money on the line, put someone on your side of the table.
Q05What tools does Wirestate use to run a project?
One team, one system. Wirestate runs every project on PocketAgent, our own always-on AI project system: schedule and installation sequencing, submittals and RFIs, change order documentation, procurement and delivery tracking, daily progress reporting and the closeout package all live in one place, and the client gets straight answers by text instead of a software login. Photos, drawings and vendor quotes are logged as they come in, so nothing depends on memory.
Q06What training backs Wirestate's project management?
A University of California, Irvine Project Management Principles and Practices certificate (completed January 2026), a construction project management software mastery certificate (completed March 2026), and 15 plus years in the field on commercial and industrial construction projects. Formal project management on top of hands on field experience is the combination most contractors do not have.
Technology
Q07What smart home systems does Wirestate install?
Wirestate designs and manages the installation of smart lighting control, security camera systems, climate automation, and access control, built to actually work together instead of as separate apps that do not talk to each other. This runs through the same project management as the rest of the job, so cabling pathways, equipment locations and network infrastructure get planned before installation day instead of worked around after.
Q08Does Wirestate manage low voltage work?
Yes. Structured cabling and Ethernet, security cameras and NVRs, access control, networking and PoE, audio and video distribution, and the smart home systems that ride on that backbone. Low voltage gets planned with the rest of the build so pathways, conduit and equipment locations are set before drywall, not cut in after.
Q09Do you handle Wi-Fi and home networking?
Yes. Coverage planning, access points and mesh systems, network racks, switches and PoE, and the structured cabling behind them. We test coverage room by room before and after, so you see the improvement instead of taking our word for it.
Q10How should security cameras be installed?
Design to the objective first. A camera that only needs to detect movement at the back fence is a different camera than one that has to identify a face at the front door, so we set the goal per location, then pick lens, resolution, mounting height and lighting to hit it. Coverage cones overlap so no camera has a blind spot another camera cannot see, including the cameras themselves. Every camera is hardwired PoE, recording to an NVR on the property, with the switch and recorder on a UPS so a power cut does not blind the system. Cloud backup is optional, a local recorder is not.
Pricing + process
Q11What are Care Plans?
Memberships that keep your home looked after: a yearly Safety Check for $189, Care at $29 a month with priority scheduling and 10% off any work we do, and Smart Home Care at $59 a month that adds Wi-Fi, camera and device support. Monthly plans have no contract. Details at wirestateco.com/care.
Q12How do estimates and change orders work?
Every job starts with a written estimate before any work begins, valid for 30 days from the date it is issued. If the scope changes once work is underway, it goes through a written change order. Verbal approvals are not authorized and are not billed. Estimates are based on visible and accessible conditions, so anything hidden that turns up once walls are open, like damaged cabling or a condition nobody could see beforehand, is priced and approved as a change order at that point, not folded silently into the original number.
Q13Why do quotes vary so much between contractors?
Quotes for the same sounding job vary because two contractors are rarely bidding the same actual scope. A written estimate that spells out exactly what is and is not included is the only way to compare two numbers honestly. If a price sounds too good, ask what it excludes before you sign.
Q14What areas does Wirestate serve?
Wirestate is based in Ontario, California and works across the Inland Empire, Los Angeles, and Orange County. Cities we serve regularly include Los Angeles, Anaheim, Irvine, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside, and San Bernardino. If your project sits somewhere else in Southern California, call or email and we will tell you plainly whether it is in range.
